I’ve always believed yoga is such a wonderful compliment to intuitive eating, and often recommend it to clients who are having a hard time exploring the mind body knowledge part of intuitive eating.

Knowing that Kara is an expert in both areas, yoga and intuitive eating, I asked her to come on the show to discuss how they compliment each other.

Kara Lydon, RD, LDN, RYT, is a nationally recognized and award-winning registered dietitian nutritionist, certified intuitive eating counselor, yoga teacher and the owner of Kara Lydon Nutrition. Kara believes that the key to authentic health and wellbeing is to celebrate food and our bodies, a positive philosophy that she actively practices and instills through the kitchen, yoga studio, working one-on-one with clients, on her food and healthy living blog, The Foodie Dietitian, and in her e-book, Nourish Your Namaste: How Nutrition and Yoga Can Support Digestion, Immunity, Energy and Relaxation. Her blog features delicious, nourishing seasonal recipes and simple strategies for a well-nourished life, and has been featured in countless national online publications.

In this episode we discuss:

  1. Kara’s origin story of becoming a non-diet dietitian and running a blog and private practice

  2. Kara’s journey to discovering and falling in love with yoga

  3. What exactly yoga is (and how it’s so much more than movement)

  4. Kara’s thoughts on how yoga can specifically support the intuitive eating journey

  5. The health benefits of yoga and how it can support immunity, digestion, energy and relaxation

  6. The differences between yin yoga and restorative yoga

  7. The 8 limbs of yoga and how movement, or asana, is only one of those

  8. How yoga taught Kara to let go of perfectionism and live life more in the gray area

  9. How Kara practices wellness without obsession
