What I Ate Wednesday
Time for another round of What I Ate Wednesday! This particular day of eats is from Monday. But, first a word on exercise...
Sometimes I work out in the morning, often times I don't. I used to force myself to get up every morning and work out no matter what. These days, I refuse to work out in the morning if I didn't get enough sleep (i.e. why I didn't go to the gym with my hubby today, I was up later than usual for a cooking demo and a 5am wake up call wasn't happening as a result). If I got enough sleep AND IF I feel rested, then I'll get up and work out. Now that I am self employed I often work out later in the day, or not at all. I'm going to be doing a post on OVER-exercising on Friday, but I'm at a point now where I exercise completely intuitively. I no longer plan my workouts. Write out how many days I "should" work out and what I'm going do. I just see how I feel and go from there. I go for daily walks and slow yoga on almost daily basis, but otherwise it's totally dependent on how I feel. If I had to average how often I workout now- it's probably 3-4 times a week for 30-45 minutes. That's it. That's all I need to get the health benefits and the feel good feeling I am personally looking for. Everyone's bodies are different- but I know there's a lot of people out there, like myself, who felt like they had to do 5-6 days a week of high intensity workouts because people with six pack abs were doing it. Letting go of that has been so incredibly freeing. It is what was probably the last thing to go of my 'disordered ways'. Alright to the eats. I woke up this day and did indeed want to work out- so I had some lemon water and Jacked Up Java before heading to the gym. When I got back, I took the dog on a walk, did some stretching and finished my morning routine. Afterwards I made breakfast of sauteed apple, chicken sausage (I usually do regular, sustainable raised pork but this flavor- apple ginger chardonnay- sounded super yummy), kale all cooked in duck fat and topped with mustard (#addict) and lots of sea salt. I enjoyed this while writing down things I am grateful for and what I want to manifest for my life :)
On Monday I went to Meg's house and worked for the day. At some point in the afternoon, I heated my Thai leftovers (green curry with white rice, always) and enjoyed this while we worked and chatted all day.
Oh, and we definitely munched on some 88% dark chocolate while meeting too.
I left her place and ran to the grocery store to pick up ingredients for a cooking demo, and got home and started cooking dinner probably around 5:45pm. I made my last Sunbasket meal and Y'ALL IT WAS SO GOOD. I really enjoyed trying their services and am glad to have found a meal service that provides paleo/gluten free/sustainable/organic/basically all the things. I have found the busier I get the more I want to not constantly have to think about what I need to cook. I love cooking and eating delicious food- but it was nice to not have to plan it all! This was a salad with sirloin steak, sauteed onions and peaches, hazelnuts, radishes and a ginger/garlic/basil dressing. I had run out of olive oil so I made the dressing with melted butter (lol) and it extra yummy as a result. I also snacked on a small bit of dried mango and a few bites of pineapple while cooking.
For dessert I enjoyed some big pieces of my crunchy and creamy paleo fudge and some unpictured bites of granola because its been a hot minute since I last made this and ITS SO GOOD.
And that's it! I usually drink turmeric milk at nighttime but honestly the thought of anything warm these days is so unappealing. Come to Florida and you'll see why.
