NWP Episode 180: The What, Why and How of CBD Oil with Ned Co-Founders Ret and Adrian

This episode begins with an update on my anti-racism education and what I’m learning. I share about the book, Fearing the Black Body by Sabrina Strings and how I’m learning how the body, and specifically the female body, was objectified and used as justification for slavery (and later became the root of diet culture). I also took at anti-racism course for wellness professionals this week by Chrissy King, where I was reminded of why wellness is for everyone but not always accessible for all because of oppression and discrimination. I learned how to become a better ally and the course helped me put into action changes we will make in my business to ensure we are an ally today and all days going forward.

Today’s podcast is a long time coming, we are finally having a conversation about CBD oil!. I first became a fan of CBD oil when I started using it for my dog to improve his anxiety and seizures, and since have used it for the entire family as part of our wellness routines.

There’s a lot of misinformation out there about what exactly CBD is (no it won’t make you high!) and sourcing it correctly can be tricky, too. That’s why I’m so excited to have the founders of Ned, Ret and Adrian, on the podcast today.

In this episode we share:

  • How Adrian and Ret started the CBD oil company, Ned and why they are obsessed with making the highest quality, full spectrum CBD you can find

  • The science behind the benefits to CBD and using CBD as a holistic first line of defense

  • How CBD is sourced from the hemp plant and what makes Ned different from other CBD oil companies

  • Easy ways to add CBD into our daily habits and common ailments it can support

  • Ret and Adrian share about the Cycle Collection for the monthly cycle that contain CBD and botanical blends

  • How Ret and Adrian practice wellness without obsession

  • Learn more about Ned and try their products for yourself here!

About today’s podcast sponsors:

Thank you to BLUBlox for sponsoring today’s episode. I am sure I am not the only person on the computer all hours of the day! I am grateful to have begin using BLUBlox glasses to help reduce blue light (I’ve been using the Crystal Computer glasses).

They created their company because they were unhappy with the quality and lack of science backed blue light blocking glasses. The founders sought to create a solution by creating their blue light blocking glasses, backed by science and made under optics laboratory conditions in Australia PLUS they are super stylish.

BLUBLox also gives a pair of reading glasses to someone in need when you purchase a pair of blue light blocking glasses in partnership with Reading Vision.

You can use the code NOURISHINGWOMEN for 15% off your order and free shipping or use this code to receive the 15% discount and free shipping.

Thank you to Ned for sponsoring today’s episode! I am thrilled to have Ned as a new podcast sponsor. I have been waiting to share about my love for CBD oil until I could find the right brand that aligned with my beliefs. Ned produces the highest quality full spectrum CBD oil, extracted from organically grown hemp plants in Colorado.

One of the things I love most about Ned is they do not cut corners in their production. Their CBD oil is made from gentle, slow extraction with no high temperatures or high pressure, and zero isolates and synthetic ingredients.

If you want to check out Ned and try them out for yourself, Ned is offering 15% off AND free shipping to my listeners by using the link included here in the shownotes or you can use the code NOURISHINGWOMEN to receive the discount.

Thank you to New Chapter for also sponsoring today’s episode. I am fascinated by traditions and theculture of food. Across the globe, for thousands of years, food is connected deeply into how we live, how we take care of ourselves and how we enjoy life.

Tradition isn’t about chasing the next “it” food, the swaying nutrition research based on the newest study and it’s not about a one fits all approach for your calorie allotment for the day. And thats why I’m a huge fan of herbalism, and my go to for any herbs I take- New Chapter, including their new daily multiherbals. There are four multiherbal options for you to choose from, one for holistic health, one to power up, one for restful nights and one to de-stress.

Take the One Daily Multiherbal Sleep Well if you are ready to promote longer, most restful sleep you can wake up feeling refreshed*. Clinical studied tart cherry can significantly increase sleep time and efficiency and even provides naturally occurring melatonin*. Sleep Well  also contains relaxing and soothing herbs that are non-habit forming: passionflower, chamomile and ashwagandha.

Or the One Daily Stress Relief formulated with Aswagandha (one of my favorite adaptations to recommend!) to ease physical and mental stress*. It has also been shown to improve well-being and help our bodies respond and react better to stress by lowering cortisol levels*.

You can purchase New Chapter multiherbals on New Chapter’s website, CVS and local health food stores.

+ Consult your healthcare provider before use if you have a medical condition; supplements are not a substitute for medical therapy.
