Creamy Green Matcha Smoothie

It's the weekend! I am SO excited. I woke up pretty early this morning, excited about the day (what a dork), got in a quick circuit workout, and plan on getting some work done on this little blog before I go to my hair appointment and run errands, both desperately needed. Why do I always wait to the last minute to run errands? I put things off that I hate doing, like laundry and running errands, until it so badly needs to be done. I would so much rather be here on this space, or in the kitchen or just not doing doing those stupid little things on my to do list. Which is probably why I am running around like a semi-organized hot mess the majority of the time :)

Anyways, I am popping in for a quick post today. I wanted to give you another way to consume the new it superfood, matcha! This recipe is inspired by my sister's recipe (you can find more about my sis at Bringing Balance Back). She uses coconut oil instead of avocado, both ways taste amazing!

Remember Thursday when I reviewed all the awesome benefits of matcha? It's definitely my new favorite green item in my life. Two of my other favorite green foods are avocado and spinach, so they also had to be included in today's recipe. All the greens for St. Patty's day! What are you doing for St. Patrick's day? I am flying to New Orleans for my best friend's bachelorette party, so pumped! I get to see some of my favorite people, my best friends from college AND my sister. And then the next weekend I get to see more of my best friends from college for another bachelorette party. Man, March is going to be fantastic.

Creamy Green Matcha Smoothie

A smoothie featuring some of my favorite green foods- matcha, avocado and spinach
  • 1 banana, frozen
  • 1 teaspoon matcha
  • 1/4-1/2 avocado
  • 1 handful of spinach
  • 1/2-1 cup of milk of choice, amount depending on how thick you'd like it (I use unsweetened vanilla almond milk)
  • 1 teaspoon-1 Tablespoon honey
  • Optional: 1 scoop protein powder
  1. Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until well combined.
